صَدَعَhe cleft الظَّلاَمَthe darkness بِهَاwith it وَحَثَّand hastened كُؤُوسَهَاits cups
صِرْفاًunmixed بغَيْرِwithout بُلاَلَةٍa drop مِنْof مَاءِwater
He cleft the darkness with it and drank its cups in haste,
Unmixed, without a drop of water.
فَلَوَso if انَّهُمْthat they نَظَرُواlooked إلَىinto أَحْشَائِهِhis entrails
لَرَأَوْهُthey would have seen him مِثْلَlike حُبَاحِبِfireflies الظَّلْمَاءِthe darkness
So, had they looked into his entrails,
They would have seen him like fireflies in the darkness.
