للعَيْنِfor the eye مِنْfrom عِمّةthe turban of البُنّيِّal-Bunnī مُعْتَبَرٌa lesson
إنْif لَفّهاhe wraps it فوقَover قرْنٍa horn مَنْwhoever يُخَفّيهِhe conceals it
In al-Bunnī’s turban there is a lesson for the eye,
if the one concealing a horn wraps it over that horn.
ماin the space بيْنَbetween كفٍّa palm وإبهامٍand a thumb يمُرُّhe passes بِهاwith it
كأنّماas though هيَit مَصْرانٌan intestine يُصَفّيهِhe cleans it
He passes it between a palm and a thumb,
as though it were an intestine he is cleaning.
