أجادَ يَراعُ الحُسْنِ خطّ عِذارِهِ

أجادَ يَراعُ الحُسْنِ خطّ عِذارِهِ

وأوْدَعَهُ السّرَّ المصونَ الذي يَدْري

وأوْدَعَهُ السّرَّ المصونَ الذي يَدْري

Beauty’s reed pen masterfully traced the down along his cheek,

He excelled in composing verses of passion

And entrusted it with the guarded secret it knows.

And confided in him a secret well-guarded

ولمْ يفْتَقرْ فيهِ لخَتْمٍ وطابَعٍ

ولمْ يفْتَقرْ فيهِ لخَتْمٍ وطابَعٍ

فمَبْسِمُهُ أغْناهُ عنْ طابَعِ السّرِّ

فمَبْسِمُهُ أغْناهُ عنْ طابَعِ السّرِّ

And for this it needed neither seal nor stamp,

Without need for seal or stamp

For his smiling mouth spared it the need for the secret’s seal.

For his smile was stamp enough for the secret
