وذي حِيَلٍ يُعْيِ التّقيّةَ أمْرُهُ

مَكايِدُهُ في لُجّةِ اللّيْلِ تَسْبَحُ

مَكايِدُهُ في لُجّةِ اللّيْلِ تَسْبَحُ

And a man of guile, whose ways confound caution;

Scheming is his business, deception his resort

His schemes swim in the depths of night.

His plots swim in the darkness of the night

يُدبُّ شُبولَ اللّيثِ والليْثُ ساهِرٌ

يُدبُّ شُبولَ اللّيثِ والليْثُ ساهِرٌ

ويَسْرِقُ نابَ الكَلْبِ والكلْبُ يَنْبَحُ

ويَسْرِقُ نابَ الكَلْبِ والكلْبُ يَنْبَحُ

He makes the lion's cubs creep away while the lion is awake,

He prowls like a lion, while the lion keeps watch

And steals the dog's fang while the dog barks.

And steals the dog's fangs, while the dog barks loud
