فِدىًa ransom لِعِذارٍfor cheek-down فوْقَabove خدِّكَyour cheek رائِقٍlovely
كَماas نَبَتَsprouted الرّيْحانُthe basil فوْقَabove الشّقائِقِthe anemones
May I be a ransom for the lovely down upon your cheek,
Like basil sprouting above anemones.
وسُقْياand may rain fall لغُصْنٍfor a bough منof قَوامِكَyour stature مائِلٍbending
كماas مالَbent لُدْنُthe supple stem القُطْبِof the caltrop plant بيْنَamong الحَدائِقِthe gardens
And may rain water the bending bough of your stature,
As the caltrop’s supple stem bends among the gardens.
وطُوبَىand blessedness لنَفْسٍfor a soul مُتِّعَتْwas granted enjoyment منْكَfrom you بالمُنَىwith desired delights
وفازَتْand it triumphed بحُكْمٍby a decree للسّعادَةِfor happiness سابِقِprior
And blessed is a soul granted its wishes through you,
And winning happiness through a prior decree.
