أبو عِنانِ خيْرُ مُسْتخلَفٍ

أبو عِنانِ خيْرُ مُسْتخلَفٍ

أصْلَحَ منْ أمْر الوَرى ما فَسَدْ

أصْلَحَ منْ أمْر الوَرى ما فَسَدْ

Abu 'Inan is the finest successor;

Abu Inan is the best successor

He has set right what had gone awry in the affairs of humankind.

He corrected what was corrupted in the affairs of the world

لا يُنْكِرُ الفضْلَ لمُلاّكِهِ

لا يُنْكِرُ الفضْلَ لمُلاّكِهِ

إلا امْرُؤٌ غطّى علَيْهِ الحَسَدْ

إلا امْرُؤٌ غطّى علَيْهِ الحَسَدْ

None denies merit to those who possess it,

None would deny his merits but an envious man

Except a man whom envy has veiled.

Whose heart is shrouded by envy

وحَقِّ مَنْ جمّعَ في الخَلْقِ

وحَقِّ مَنْ جمّعَ في الخَلْقِ

بيْنَ النّفسِ والروحِ وبيْنَ الجَسَدْ

بيْنَ النّفسِ والروحِ وبيْنَ الجَسَدْ

And by the sanctity of Him who united, in creation,

And it is true of the one who gathered in creation

The soul and the spirit with the body,

The soul, the spirit, and the body

لأَنْتَ يا موْلايَ شمْسُ العُلا

لأَنْتَ يا موْلايَ شمْسُ العُلا

حقّاً وهَذا البُرْجُ بُرْجُ الأسَدْ

حقّاً وهَذا البُرْجُ بُرْجُ الأسَدْ

You indeed, O my lord, are the sun of glory,

You, my master, are the sun of glory

Truly—and this tower is the Lion's tower.

In truth, and this mansion is the mansion of the lion
