لوْ كانَ لي في الهَوى اخْتيارُ

ما شَطّ بي عنْكُمُ المَزارُ

Had I any choice in love,

If I had any choice in love,

the journey would not have borne me far from you.

رحَلْتُ عنْكمْ ولي فُؤادٌ

لهُ بأحْوازكُمْ قَرارُ

لهُ بأحْوازكُمْ قَرارُ

I departed from you, though I have a heart

that rests within your bounds.

whose resting place lies in your environs.

ما حسُنَتْ بعْدَكُم وُجوهٌ

ما حسُنَتْ بعْدَكُم وُجوهٌ

عنْدي ولا أعْجَبَتْ دِيارُ

عنْدي ولا أعْجَبَتْ دِيارُ

Since leaving you, no faces have seemed fair

Since parting from you, no faces have seemed fair

to me, nor have any lands delighted me.

وقادَني نحْوَكُمْ غَرامٌ

يُهيجُ أشْواقَهُ ادِّكارُ

And a consuming love led me toward you,

فلَيسَ لي عنْكُمُ بَراحٌ

ما اخْتلَفَ اللّيلُ والنّهارُ

And so I can never part from you,
