خَليفةَ اللهِ في أرْ

خَليفةَ اللهِ في أرْ

ضِهِ ونِعْمَ الخَليفَةْ

ضِهِ ونِعْمَ الخَليفَةْ

God’s caliph upon His—

O God's caliph on His

—earth; and excellent indeed is the caliph!

earth—and what an excellent caliph!

ومَنْ كَفاهُ افْتِخاراً

ومَنْ كَفاهُ افْتِخاراً

نِزاعُ يوْمِ السّقيفَةْ

نِزاعُ يوْمِ السّقيفَةْ

And for him, as a source of pride, there sufficed

And you, for whom sufficient cause for pride

شوْقي إليْكَ قويٌّ

شوْقي إليْكَ قويٌّ

لكِنْ قُوايَ ضَعيفَةْ

لكِنْ قُوايَ ضَعيفَةْ

My longing for you is strong,

but my powers are weak.

but my strength is weak.

فجمّلَ اليوْمَ عُذْري

فجمّلَ اليوْمَ عُذْري

تِلْكَ السّجايا الشّريفَةْ

تِلْكَ السّجايا الشّريفَةْ

So grace my excuse today

So today my excuse was graced

with those noble qualities.

by those noble traits.

لازِلْتَ للدّينِ عِزّاً

لازِلْتَ للدّينِ عِزّاً

مؤمّناً كلَّ خِيفَةْ

مؤمّناً كلَّ خِيفَةْ

May you ever remain a glory to the faith,

May you ever remain a strength to the faith,

bringing safety against every fear.
