حينَwhen لمْdid not أرْجُI hope للخَلاصِfor deliverance سَبيلاًa way
دأبُهُhis habit بالصَّدودِwith shunning فِيtoward عُشّاقِهْhis lovers
When I could hope for no way to deliverance,
When I had no hope of finding a way to deliverance,
His constant habit was to turn away from his lovers,
His habit being to spurn his lovers,
قيّضَprovided اللهُGod لِحْيَةًa beard لخَلاصيfor my deliverance

God provided a beard for my deliverance—
God provided a beard for my deliverance,
It was seized with the fingertips above his throat.
Grasped with the fingertips above his throat.
