O people of this land—may the rain favor it!
O people of this land who the fate has helped
I have been afflicted; so guide me: to whom should the matter be brought?
I am lost so guide me to whom the matter is raised
تشاغَلْتُI busied myself بالدُنْياwith the world ونِمْتُand I slept مفَرِّطاًneglectful

I busied myself with the world and slept, neglectful,
I was busy with the life and I slept neglectfully
And while I was busy or asleep, my life was stolen.
And in my busyness or my sleep, my life was stolen
