وصَلْتُI arrived حَثيثَswift السّيْرِin travel فيمَنْamong those who فَلَىtraversed الفَلاthe wilderness
وصَلْتُ حَثيثَ السّيْرِ فيمَنْ فَلَى الفَلا
فَلاyet not خاطِرِيmy mind لمّاwhen نأىwent far away وانْجَلَىand departed انْجَلىfound relief
فَلا خاطِرِي لمّا نأى وانْجَلَى انْجَلى
I arrived, swift of pace, among those who traversed the wilderness.
I reached with hasty steps those who had turned away,
Yet my mind, after distance and departure, found no relief.
Yet my thoughts were not with those who had gone far and vanished.
ولاnor نسَخَتْerased كَرْبيmy sorrow بقَلْبِيَin my heart سَلْوَةًsolace
ولا نسَخَتْ كَرْبي بقَلْبِيَ سَلْوَةً
فلمّاthen when سَرىwafted فيهِthrough it نَسيمُthe breeze of سَلاSalé سَلاit found solace
فلمّا سَرى فيهِ نَسيمُ سَلا سَلا
Nor did solace erase the sorrow in my heart.
Nor did my sorrow lift from my heart
Then, when the breeze of Salé wafted through it, it found solace.
When the morning breeze blew in it forgetfulness.
