بِضَبْعِي يَانَجْلَ الْوَصِيِّ وفَاطِمَهْ
You took hold, while death's waves crashed together,
of my upper arm, O scion of the Legatee and Fatima.
وَسَكَّنْتَand you stilled رِيحَthe wind of الْخَطْبِcalamity بَعْدَafter هُبُوبِهَاits blowing
وَسَكَّنْتَ رِيحَ الْخَطْبِ بَعْدَ هُبُوبِهَا
وَلَوْلاَكَand but for you كَانَتْwould have been هُوجُهَاits raging gusts لِيَfor me حَاطِمَهْcrushing
وَلَوْلاَكَ كَانَتْ هُوجُهَا لِيَ حَاطِمَهْ
And you stilled calamity's wind after it had risen;
but for you, its raging gusts would have crushed me.

And in you a splendid nobleman took up my cause,
driving fate's vicissitudes away from me in humiliation.

with it I checked an unjust hand of oppression.

your sword-edges shatter the back of injustice and oppression.

Your virtues declare that you are a descendant of Muhammad.
Can truth be denied while the testimony stands?

You softened tyrannous time for me, so now
its nights, after their tyranny, are my servants.

For fierce anger was restrained by a resolve
passed down to you from the days of al-Aqiq and Kazima.

So remain unique among all, in the shade of bliss,
and may death's eye never cease to slumber, away from you.
