وقالواand they said الجَزيرَةُthe island قدalready صوّحَتْwithered
وقالوا الجَزيرَةُ قد صوّحَتْ
فقُلْتُso I said غَمامَthe cloud of النّدىbounty تنْتَظِرْit awaits
فقُلْتُ غَمامَ النّدى تنْتَظِرْ
And they said: The island has withered.
They said the island had called out
So I said: It awaits the cloud of bounty.
So I said it awaits the dewy clouds
إذاwhen وكَفَتْrained كَفُّthe palm of موسىMusa بِهاupon it
إذا وكَفَتْ كَفُّ موسى بِها
غَماماًlike a cloud يَعودُbecomes again الجَنابُthe grounds الخَضِرْgreen
غَماماً يَعودُ الجَنابُ الخَضِرْ
When Musa's palm rains upon it
When Moses' palms envelope it
like a cloud, the grounds grow green again.
Green, the clouds return once more
