O beloved! Who will let my eye behold him?
Your love has struck my heart and worn it away.

Your abandonment has left me no breath of life.
Ah, for what separation has done—and ah!

And suddenly love's herald called me;
So my heart answered when he called it.

Alas for my heart! Whenever an east wind blows,
Longing for the days of its youth wears it thin.

A procrastinator who withheld my due and delayed paying it?

If he has not honored my covenant in love,
Then may God, my Lord, protect him and care for him.

And convey my greeting to my loved ones after
Moistening the dwelling by kissing its soil.

مَنْwho رَسولٌa messenger بيْنَbetween جفْنيmy eyelid وكَراهُand its slumber
Sleep has forsaken me since their departure.
Who will be a messenger between my eyelid and its slumber?

And I had indeed been patient; it was only
Separation that shattered my heart and seared it.

حسْبيَenough for me اللهُGod فلاfor there is no ربَّLord سِواهُbesides Him
Great is what I endure from the excess of love's anguish.
God is enough for me, for there is no Lord besides Him.
