أَقُولُI say وَقَدْand already جَاءَcame الْغُلاَمُthe lad بِثَرْدَةٍwith a dish of bread soaked in broth
أَقُولُ وَقَدْ جَاءَ الْغُلاَمُ بِثَرْدَةٍ
بِأَمْثَالِهَاwith the likes of it يَحْيَاlives السَّعِيدُthe fortunate man وَيَنْعَمُand enjoys ease
بِأَمْثَالِهَا يَحْيَا السَّعِيدُ وَيَنْعَمُ
I say, as the lad brings a dish of bread soaked in broth:
I say, as the boy brought a coat
On such fare the fortunate man lives and enjoys ease.
With the likes of it thrives the fortunate and enjoys
بَنَيْتُI built عَلَىupon زَرْدٍgulping down food وَلَقَّمِنيand he fed me morsels الْفَتَىthe young man
بَنَيْتُ عَلَى زَرْدٍ وَلَقَّمِني الْفَتَى
كَذَلِكَlikewise مَاعُونُthe vessel الْبِنَاءِof building يُلَقَّمُis fed morsels
كَذَلِكَ مَاعُونُ الْبِنَاءِ يُلَقَّمُ
I built upon gulping, and the young man fed me morsels;
I built on silk, and the youth clothed me
So too is the vessel used in building fed.
Thus the helper in building is clothed
