أَطَعتِ الآمِرِيكِ بِقَطعِ حَبلِى

أَطَعتِ الآمِرِيكِ بِقَطعِ حَبلِى

مُرِيهِم فِى أَحِبَّتِهِم بِذَاكِ

مُرِيهِم فِى أَحِبَّتِهِم بِذَاكِ

You obeyed those who commanded you to cut my cord.

I obeyed the Americans by cutting off my rope

Command them to do the same to their beloveds.

Show them with their loved ones the same

فَإن هُم طاوعُوكِ فطَاوِعِيهِم

فَإن هُم طاوعُوكِ فطَاوِعِيهِم

وَإِن عَاصَوكِ فاعصِى مَن عَصَاكِ

وَإِن عَاصَوكِ فاعصِى مَن عَصَاكِ

So if they obey you, then obey them;

If they obey you, then obey them

And if they disobey you, then disobey whoever disobeys you.

And if they disobey you, disobey those who disobeyed you

أَمَا وَالرَّاقِصاتِ بِكُلِّ فَجٍّ

أَمَا وَالرَّاقِصاتِ بِكُلِّ فَجٍّ

وَمَن صَلَّى بِنَعمانِ الأراكِ

وَمَن صَلَّى بِنَعمانِ الأراكِ

Indeed, by the she-camels dancing through every mountain pass,

By the dancing girls in every valley

And by whoever prayed at Naʿmān of the arak trees,

And those who prayed at Naʿmān al-Arāk

لَقَد أَضمَرتُ حُبَّكِ فِى فُؤَادِى

لَقَد أَضمَرتُ حُبَّكِ فِى فُؤَادِى

وَما أَضمَرتُ حُبّاً مِن سِواكِ

وَما أَضمَرتُ حُبّاً مِن سِواكِ

I have indeed harbored love for you in my heart,

Indeed I have harbored love for you in my heart

And I have harbored love for no one but you.

And I have not harbored any love other than yours
