After glory and the setting of the sun.

O Umaym, have you heard of a love-stricken man who wept
O Ummaymah, have you been told of one made desolate, who wept
from the passion he harbored for the one who laid him low?
For what he felt of love for the excellent?

And you supposed that I was of noble birth,

So I hoped in life for one who fulfils.

Does harm with capturing steeds, hanging up

Foam of one resisting, and another asking.
foam, its blood spurting and another stream flowing.

That crushed the wings of those who were excessive.
that ground the rebels' breastbones beneath its chests.
