عَلَى الخَيمِ أَو مُرّا بِذِ العُشَرَاتِ
My two friends, set out by al-Hajīn and offer greetings
My friends, send a spirit with soft words
To al-Khaym, or pass by Dhī al-‘Usharāt.
To greet the tents, or pass by the dwellings,
وَقِيلاand rest at noon, you two بِناwith us فِىin ظِلِّهِنَّtheir shade وَرَمِّياand pelt, you two
وَقِيلا بِنا فِى ظِلِّهِنَّ وَرَمِّيا

ذُرَاهُنَّ رَمىَ المُحرِمِ الجمَراتِ
And rest at noon with us in their shade, and pelt
And say of us, in their shade, and cast
Their tops as a pilgrim in ihram pelts the jamarāt.
Pebbles as the pilgrim casts pebbles at Mina.
وَقُولاand say, you two لِمَنto whomever لاقَيتُماyou two met ياO هُدِيتُماmay you two be guided

أَحِثّا لنا فِى الطَّوفِ مِن بَكَرَاتِ
And say to whomever you meet—may you two be guided—
And say to those you meet who have been guided right:
Urge some young she-camels onward for us on your rounds:
"Urge us on in the rush of pilgrims at daybreak,
قَلائِصُyoung riding she-camels فِيهِنَّamong them الَّتِىthe one who الّتِىthe one who كِبرُthe chief part هَمِّهاof her concern

أَنِينٌ وَتُذرِى الدَّمعَ بالزَّفَرَاتِ
Young riding she-camels, among them the one—the one—whose chief concern
The tents wherein are those who so pine
Is moaning, and she scatters tears with sighs.
With groaning and pouring forth tears in sobs."
