هبت رياح القرب والتداني

من حي من بالحسن قد سباني

The winds of nearness and drawing close have blown,

The winds of nearness and intimacy have blown,

From the abode of him whose beauty has taken me captive,

From the quarter of one whose beauty enthralled me,

متمم الأوصاف والمعاني

حبه ثوي في داخل الجنان

حبه ثوي في داخل الجنان

Perfect in attributes and inner qualities;

The perfecter of qualities and meanings,

Love for him has settled deep within my heart.

Whose love dwells within my soul.

ما الحب إلا للحبيب الأول

ما الحب إلا للحبيب الأول

لا عاش من عن حبه تحول

لا عاش من عن حبه تحول

Love is only for the first beloved.

Love is only for the first beloved,

May he who turns away from love for him never live,

He who turns away from his love, may he not live,

ولا صفا قلب به تبدل

ولا صفا قلب به تبدل

ولا تقدس من يقل بثاني

ولا تقدس من يقل بثاني

Nor may a heart that replaces him be pure,

No heart attains purity that changes,

Nor may anyone who speaks of a second beloved be sanctified.

Nor one who takes a second as sacred.

أما أنا واللَه ما بقلبي

أما أنا واللَه ما بقلبي

ولا بأسراري ولا بلبي

ولا بأسراري ولا بلبي

As for me, by God, there is none in my heart,

As for me, by God, there is none in my heart,

Nor in my secrets, nor in my innermost being,

Nor my secrets, nor my mind,

منجملة الأحباب غير حبي

منجملة الأحباب غير حبي

أقصى المطالب منتهى الأماني

أقصى المطالب منتهى الأماني

Among all beloveds, but my beloved—

Among all the beloveds except my love,

The highest of aims, the culmination of wishes.

The utmost of desires, the epitome of hopes.

قل للعواذل يتركوا ملامي

قل للعواذل يتركوا ملامي

فإن شوقي في الفؤاد نامي

فإن شوقي في الفؤاد نامي

Tell the reproachers to cease blaming me,

Tell the fair ones to cease blaming me,

For my longing is growing in my heart,

For my passion in my heart has awakened,

والدمع من فوق الخدود هامي

والدمع من فوق الخدود هامي

لا أستمع قول الذي نهاني

لا أستمع قول الذي نهاني

And tears stream down over my cheeks.

And tears from my cheeks are flowing,

I do not heed the words of the one who forbade me.

I do not listen to those who prohibited me.

اللَه حسبي الإله الأكرم

اللَه حسبي الإله الأكرم

ومصطفاه الهادي المقدم

ومصطفاه الهادي المقدم

God is sufficient for me, the Most Generous God,

God suffices me, the Most Generous God,

And His chosen one, the guide, the foremost.

And His Chosen Guide, the Forerunner,

صلى عليه اللَه ثم سلم

صلى عليه اللَه ثم سلم

والآل والأصحاب كل أوان

والآل والأصحاب كل أوان

May God bless him, then grant him peace,

Blessings of God be upon him and peace,

And his family and companions, at all times.
