هون عليك نائب الدهر

يهن عليك كل ما يجري

Take time's calamity lightly;

Everything that happens will become easy for you.

وكن للطف اللَه منتظراً

من حيث لا تدريه أو تدري

And await God's gentle grace,

From where you do not foresee it, or where you do.

فكم له من فرج عاجل

يكشف للبأساء والضر

For how often He grants swift relief

That dispels hardship and harm!

فحسن الظن بمولاك في

الأحوال من يسر ومن عسر

So think well of your Lord in

All circumstances, in ease and in hardship.

وروح القلب بروح الرضا

تعيش في أنس وفي بشر

And refresh the heart with the solace of contentment;

You will live in comfort and good cheer.

وكن من الشكر علي غاية

إن النعيم الصرف عن الشكر

And be at the utmost in gratitude;

Indeed, pure bliss comes from gratitude.

نعم وعول في جميع الأمور

ما دمت في الدنيا على الصبر

Yes, and in every matter rely,

As long as you are in this world, on patience.

فإنها دار المحن والأسا

من غير ما شك ولا نكر

For it is an abode of trials and sorrow,

Without any doubt or denial.

طوبى لمن جانبها واتصف

بالزهد فيها مدة العمر

Blessed is whoever shuns it and is marked

By detachment from it throughout life.

يا رب وفقني وسدد وكن

عوناً لنا في السر والجهر

O Lord, grant me success, guide me aright, and be

A help to us in private and in public.

واغفر لنا والطف بنا دائماً

واختم لنا بالخير والبر

And forgive us and be gracious to us always,

And seal our lives with goodness and righteousness.
