خَلِّ عَنكَ الهَمَّ يا قَلبَ الحَزينِ

خَلِّ عَنكَ الهَمَّ يا قَلبَ الحَزينِ

وَتَوَقَّع وارِداً في كُلِّ حينِ

وَتَوَقَّع وارِداً في كُلِّ حينِ

Set aside worry, O sorrowful heart.

Leave your worries, O sorrowful heart

And await an inward inspiration at every moment,

And expect relief at every moment

بِشَرحِ الصَدرِ مِنَ الحَقِّ المُبينِ

بِشَرحِ الصَدرِ مِنَ الحَقِّ المُبينِ

وَاِعبُدِ اللَهَ وَكُن بِهِ مُستَعينِ

وَاِعبُدِ اللَهَ وَكُن بِهِ مُستَعينِ

Bringing ease to the breast, from the Manifest Truth.

With an open chest from the evident truth

And worship God, and seek His help.

And worship Allah, seeking help through Him

وَاِرضَ بِاللَهِ وَكيل

وَاِرضَ بِاللَهِ وَكيل

إِنَّهُ نِعمَ الكَفيل

إِنَّهُ نِعمَ الكَفيل

And be content with God as your guardian.

Be pleased with Allah as your Trustee

Indeed, He is an excellent guarantor.

He is the best Guarantor

جَلَّ مَولانا الجَليل

جَلَّ مَولانا الجَليل

إِنَّهُ الرازِقُ ذو القُوَّةِ مَتين

إِنَّهُ الرازِقُ ذو القُوَّةِ مَتين

Exalted is our Lord, the Majestic.

Exalted is our Lord the Majestic

Indeed, He is the Provider, possessed of power, unshakably strong.

He is the Sustainer, Strong and Firm

عَمَّ بِالفَضلِ جَميعَ العالَمين

عَمَّ بِالفَضلِ جَميعَ العالَمين

وَحدَ الفَردِ المَهين تَستَريحُ

وَحدَ الفَردِ المَهين تَستَريحُ

He has encompassed all the worlds with bounty.

He has spread bounty over all worlds

Affirm the oneness of the Unique One, 'the lowly' [unclear as written], and you will find rest.

And alone, the Unique remains

إِنَّهُ التِرياقُ لِلقَلبِ الجَريح

إِنَّهُ التِرياقُ لِلقَلبِ الجَريح

وَتَحَقَّق بِالفَنا الصَرفِ الصَريح

وَتَحَقَّق بِالفَنا الصَرفِ الصَريح

Indeed, it is the antidote for the wounded heart.

He is the remedy for the wounded heart

And attain pure, unmistakable self-effacement,

And realize the pure, sheer annihilation

عَن جَميعَ الكَونِ حَتّى لا تَبين

عَن جَميعَ الكَونِ حَتّى لا تَبين

وَاِبقَ مِن بَعدَ الفَنا

وَاِبقَ مِن بَعدَ الفَنا

From all created existence, until you no longer appear.

From all creation, that you do not see

And abide after self-effacement.

Remain after annihilation

وَاِدنُ فيمَن قَد دَنا

وَاِدنُ فيمَن قَد دَنا

وَاِروِ مِن كَأَسِ الهَنا

وَاِروِ مِن كَأَسِ الهَنا

And draw near among those who have drawn near.

Draw near to the One who has drawn near

And drink your fill from the cup of bliss,

And drink from the cup of bliss

في ذَرى عَلاماتِ اليَقين

في ذَرى عَلاماتِ اليَقين

صُحبَةَ القَومِ الكِرامِ الصالِحين

صُحبَةَ القَومِ الكِرامِ الصالِحين

At the heights of the signs of certainty,

In the particles of certainty

In the company of noble, righteous folk.

The company of the noble, righteous people

خَلِّ عَنكَ الهَمَّ في أَمرٍ مَضى

خَلِّ عَنكَ الهَمَّ في أَمرٍ مَضى

وَالَّذي يَأتي وَسَلِّم لِلقَضا

وَالَّذي يَأتي وَسَلِّم لِلقَضا

Set aside worry over a matter that has passed,

Leave your worries over what has passed

And what is to come, and submit to the decree.

And what is to come, submit to destiny

لا يَضيقُ صَدري وَإِن ضاقَ الفَضا

لا يَضيقُ صَدري وَإِن ضاقَ الفَضا

وَاِنتَظِر لُطفاً خَفِيّاً يا ظَنين

وَاِنتَظِر لُطفاً خَفِيّاً يا ظَنين

My breast will not tighten, even if the expanse grows narrow.

My heart does not feel constrained, though space shrinks

And await hidden grace, O mistrustful one.

Wait for hidden kindness, O skeptic

إِنَّ في الغَيبِ عَجائِبُ

إِنَّ في الغَيبِ عَجائِبُ

كَم نَعَم طَيِّ المَصائِبُ

كَم نَعَم طَيِّ المَصائِبُ

Indeed, in the unseen are wonders.

In the unseen are wonders

How many blessings lie within the folds of calamities!

How many blessings are in tribulations

وَأَخو التَدبيرِ خائِبُ

وَأَخو التَدبيرِ خائِبُ

لَم يَزَل في قَبضَةِ الشَكِّ رَهينَ

لَم يَزَل في قَبضَةِ الشَكِّ رَهينَ

And the planner meets disappointment.

And the brother of scheming is a failure

He remains captive in the grip of doubt.

He remains gripped in doubt, hostage

لَم يَذُق عَيشَ العِبادَ الصالِحينَ

لَم يَذُق عَيشَ العِبادَ الصالِحينَ

إِن تَرَدَّ عِزّاً وَمَجداً لا يُبيدُ

إِن تَرَدَّ عِزّاً وَمَجداً لا يُبيدُ

He has not tasted the life of the righteous servants.

He has not tasted the life of righteous servants

If you desire honor and glory that never perish,

If you seek honor and glory that does not fade

فَاِعتَصِم بِاللَهِ ذي العَرشِ المَجيدُ

فَاِعتَصِم بِاللَهِ ذي العَرشِ المَجيدُ

وَاِستَقِم بِاللَهِ لازِم لا تَحيدُ

وَاِستَقِم بِاللَهِ لازِم لا تَحيدُ

Then hold fast to God, the Glorious, Possessor of the Throne.

Then hold fast to Allah, Possessor of the Majestic Throne

And be steadfast through God; hold fast and do not stray.

And walk straight with Allah, clinging, do not deviate

وَتَمَسَّك بِالكِتابِ المُستَبينُ

وَتَمَسَّك بِالكِتابِ المُستَبينُ

وَاِتَّبِع خَيرَ الأَنامِ

وَاِتَّبِع خَيرَ الأَنامِ

And cling to the clear Book.

And adhere to the clear Book

And follow the best of creation,

And follow the best of mankind

سَيِّدَ الرُسُلِ الكِرامِ

سَيِّدَ الرُسُلِ الكِرامِ

أَحمَدُ المِسكِ الخِتامِ

أَحمَدُ المِسكِ الخِتامِ

The master of the noble messengers,

Master of Messengers, the noble

Ahmad, the musk at the close,

Ahmad, the Seal of Prophecy

النَبِيُّ المُصطَفى الخَلِّ المَكين

النَبِيُّ المُصطَفى الخَلِّ المَكين

الرَسولِ المُجتَبي الهادي الأَمينِ

الرَسولِ المُجتَبي الهادي الأَمينِ

The chosen Prophet, the intimate friend of high standing,

The chosen Prophet, the trusted, honest guide

The elect Messenger, the trustworthy guide.
