البِدار البِدار قَبلَ الفَواتِ

إِنَّما أَنتَ عَرضَةَ الآفاتِ

Hasten, hasten, before it is too late!

Make haste, make haste before it's too late!

You are but a target for calamities.

You are merely prey to annihilation.

بادَرَ الفَواتَ قَبلَ أَن تَقطَعَنكَ

بادَرَ الفَواتَ قَبلَ أَن تَقطَعَنكَ

دونَ ما تَبتَغي حُتوفِ المَماتِ

دونَ ما تَبتَغي حُتوفِ المَماتِ

Forestall the loss of your chance before you are cut off

Hasten to avoid being cut off

from what you seek by death's fatal blows.

From what you seek, by the shrouds of death.

ما أَراكَ مُشَمِّراً وَاللَيالي

ما أَراكَ مُشَمِّراً وَاللَيالي

وَسَوفَ تَدنى إِلَيكَ ما هُوَ آتِ

وَسَوفَ تَدنى إِلَيكَ ما هُوَ آتِ

I do not see you making ready, while the nights

I see you unprepared as nights go by,

will bring nearer to you what is to come.

And what is to come draws near steadily.

إِنَّما رَأسَ ما لَكَ العُمرُ فَاِعمُرِ

إِنَّما رَأسَ ما لَكَ العُمرُ فَاِعمُرِ

بِفِعلِ الجَميلِ وَالمَكرُماتِ

بِفِعلِ الجَميلِ وَالمَكرُماتِ

Your life is your chief asset; so fill it

Your life is all you have - so live it well

with good deeds and noble acts.

With good deeds and acts of generosity.

وَاِتَّخِذهُ مَطِيَّةً تَمتَطِيا

وَاِتَّخِذهُ مَطِيَّةً تَمتَطِيا

في سُلوكِ السَبيلِ لِلدَرَجاتِ

في سُلوكِ السَبيلِ لِلدَرَجاتِ

And take it as a mount to ride

Make it your steed on the path

along the path to higher ranks,

To ascend the ranks of virtue.

وَجَواداً تُطوى عَلَيهِ مَدى هَ

وَجَواداً تُطوى عَلَيهِ مَدى هَ

ذِهِ الدُنيا لِتُبلِغَ الغاياتِ

ذِهِ الدُنيا لِتُبلِغَ الغاياتِ

and as a steed on which is folded the expanse of this

A generous horse that carries you across

world, so that you may reach your goals.

This world to attain the highest goals.
