نعم عالم الأرواح خير من الجسم

وأعلى ولا يخفى عن كل ذي علم

Yes, the realm of spirits is better than the body,

And loftier, as is clear to everyone with knowledge.

فما لك في أفنيت عمرك جاهداً

لخدمة هذا الجسم والهيكل الرسمي

Why, then, have you spent your life striving

To serve this body and its outward frame?

ظالمت وما إلا لنفسك يا فتى

ظلمت وظلم النفس من أقبح الظلم

You have acted unjustly; it is only yourself, young man,

That you have wronged; wronging oneself is among the foulest wrongs.

تنبه هداك الله من نوم غفلة

ولهو ولا تعمل على الشك والوهم

Awaken—may God guide you—from the sleep of heedlessness

And diversion; do not act on doubt and delusion.

وسر في طريق اللَه بالجد واستقم

ولازم وخذ بالعزم يا صاحب العزم

And walk God's path with earnestness, and remain upright.

And persevere; hold fast to resolve, O man of resolve.

ومن بعده إما مصير إلى لظى

او الجنة العليا ووجد بلا عدم

And after it, the destination is either the Blaze,

Or the highest Paradise, and abundance without want:

حياة بلا موت نعيم بلا شقا

وملك بلا عرل شباب بلا هرم

Life without death, bliss without misery,

And sovereignty without removal, youth without old age,

ورؤية رب العالمين تقدست

أساميه والأوصاف يا لك من قسم

And beholding the Lord of all worlds—hallowed are

His names and attributes—what a portion is yours!

وفوز عظيم لا يسامي وحظوة

وغنم كبير جيد لك من غنم

And a mighty triumph beyond compare, and favor,

And great gain—what a fine gain for you!

لمن ترك الدنيا لمن خالف الهوى

لمن آثر الأخرى لمن قلع بالعلم

For whoever forsakes this world, whoever opposes desire,

For whoever prefers the hereafter, whoever breaks free through knowledge,

لمن لزم الطاعات والبر والتقى

وأخلص للمولى مع الصدق والحزم

For whoever keeps to obedience, righteousness, and piety,

And is sincere to the Lord, with truthfulness and firmness.

وصلى إلهي مع سلام مضاعف

على أحمد الهادي الأنام إلى السلم

And may my God send blessings, with redoubled peace,

Upon Ahmad, who guides humankind to peace.
