May the clouds' morning showers water you, dwelling of the beloved.

For how many a fair maiden is in you, and how many a virgin!

And a slender-waisted maiden, like a branch swayed by the east wind.

And her radiant brow is like the full moon beneath the darkness.

And a mouth with pearls within it, and a neck perfumed with musk.

And a bosom bearing every precious pearl.

And a maiden so beautiful that you think she is

One of the modest maidens dwelling in Paradise.

I became enamored of her; and praise be to God alone

For every kindness and blessing bestowed upon me.

And we ask Him for divine guidance, pardon, and His good pleasure,

And to take us in death upon the best of faiths:

Upon the faith of Islam, the religion of Muhammad,

The chosen Prophet of guidance, the seal of prophethood.

Upon him be God's blessing as long as the east wind blows,

And as long as gray doves sing upon the branch of a spreading tree.
