ونبي الحمى من جانب الغور أبرقا

ونبي الحمى من جانب الغور أبرقا

فأذكرني عقداً وعهداً وموثقا

فأذكرني عقداً وعهداً وموثقا

And the Prophet of the sanctuary shone from the direction of al-Ghawr,

The prophet of fever flashed from the side of the valley,

reminding me of a bond, a pledge, and a covenant,

So remember me with a pact, covenant, and confirmation,

وعيشاً خلا والغصن غصن ومورق

وعيشاً خلا والغصن غصن ومورق

بوادي النقا رعياً لمن سكن النقا

بوادي النقا رعياً لمن سكن النقا

and a life gone by, when the bough was a leafy bough,

And a life of seclusion, while the branch is a green branch,

in Wadi al-Naqa—may those who dwelt in al-Naqa be safeguarded.

Grazing in Wadi al-Naqa, inhabited by Wadi al-Naqa's dwellers,

غريب لهم تحت الضلوع منيزل

غريب لهم تحت الضلوع منيزل

به ودهم باق إلي موعد اللقا

به ودهم باق إلي موعد اللقا

A strange little dwelling is theirs beneath my ribs,

They are strangers to me, though I have a home beneath my ribs because of them,

where love for them endures until the appointed reunion.

Their love remains with me until we meet again,

إذا ما ذكرت الكون فيهم وبينهم

إذا ما ذكرت الكون فيهم وبينهم

يكاد لفرط الوجد أن يتمزقا

يكاد لفرط الوجد أن يتمزقا

Whenever I recall being among them and in their midst,

When I recall the universe, and them within it,

it nearly tears apart from overwhelming longing.

My fervent passion is almost torn apart,

فؤادي على طول الزمان متيم

فؤادي على طول الزمان متيم

يحن إليهم حسرة وتشوقا

يحن إليهم حسرة وتشوقا

My heart remains enthralled by love throughout time,

My heart has been infatuated throughout time,

yearning for them in sorrow and longing.

Yearning for them wistfully and eagerly,

ويصبو إليهم كلما هبت الصاب

ويصبو إليهم كلما هبت الصاب

وإن ناحت الورقاء بات مؤرقا

وإن ناحت الورقاء بات مؤرقا

And it longs for them whenever the east wind blows,

And pouring towards them whenever the clouds pour down,

and if the gray dove laments, it spends the night sleepless.

And if the doves coo, it remains sleepless,

سقى اللَه أكناف الأباطح صيبا

سقى اللَه أكناف الأباطح صيبا

ملثا إذا لحت بوارقه سقا

ملثا إذا لحت بوارقه سقا

May God water the reaches of al-Abatih with a downpour,

May God water the edges of the valley with rain,

unceasing, watering them whenever its lightning flashes.

Continuously when its foliage drips with moisture,

أحبتنا هل من سبيل لعودة

أحبتنا هل من سبيل لعودة

نسر بها من قبل أن نتفرقا

نسر بها من قبل أن نتفرقا

Our beloveds, is there any way to return

My loved ones, is there a way to return?

that may gladden us before we part?

So we can, before we disperse, fly back,

فأما إليكم يا أحيباب مهجتي

فأما إليكم يا أحيباب مهجتي

فإني قد أصبحت عنها معوقا

فإني قد أصبحت عنها معوقا

But as for returning to you, O dear beloveds of my soul,

As for you, O beloveds of my soul,

I have indeed been held back from it,

I have indeed become hindered from you,

بضعف وذنب والذنوب موانع

بضعف وذنب والذنوب موانع

عن الخير فاتركها لتنجو من الشقا

عن الخير فاتركها لتنجو من الشقا

by weakness and sin—and sins are barriers

By weakness, sin, and sins are barriers,

to goodness, so abandon them to escape misery.

From good, so leave them to escape agony,

وسر في الطريق المستقيم إلى العلا

وسر في الطريق المستقيم إلى العلا

على الصدق والإخلاص والبر والتقى

على الصدق والإخلاص والبر والتقى

And walk the straight path toward the heights,

And walk the straight path to the Most High,

in truthfulness, sincerity, righteousness, and piety.

With sincerity, devotion, righteousness and piety,

وإياك والدنيا الغرور فإنها

وإياك والدنيا الغرور فإنها

متاع قليل ما لها ابداً بقا

متاع قليل ما لها ابداً بقا

And beware the deceptive world, for it is

And beware of the deceptive world, for it is,

a little enjoyment that never lasts.

Brief enjoyment, it has no eternity,

وتلهيك عن جنات خلد نعيمها

وتلهيك عن جنات خلد نعيمها

يدوم ويصفو حبذا لك ملتقى

يدوم ويصفو حبذا لك ملتقى

And it distracts you from gardens of eternity, whose bliss

And distracts you from the Gardens of Eternity, blissful and pleasant,

endures and is pure—what a splendid meeting place for you!

Enduring and pure, blessed is your arrival,

وفيها رضا الرب الكريم وقربه

وفيها رضا الرب الكريم وقربه

ورؤيته أكرم بذلك مرتقى

ورؤيته أكرم بذلك مرتقى

And in them are the pleasure of the Generous Lord and nearness to Him,

And in it is the pleasure of the Generous Lord and nearness to Him,

and seeing Him—how noble an ascent that is!

And seeing Him, the most noble ascent,

وصلي وسلم ذو الجلال على أحمد

وصلي وسلم ذو الجلال على أحمد

شفيع البرايا كلما المزن أغدقا

شفيع البرايا كلما المزن أغدقا

And may the Possessor of Majesty bless Ahmad and grant him peace,

And bless and salute the Majestic, Ahmad,

the intercessor for creation, whenever rain clouds pour abundantly.
