ثَلاثَةٌthree حَيَّتْكَgreeted you فيin الأَرْبَعِينْforty
ثَلاثَةٌ حَيَّتْكَ في الأَرْبَعِينْ
نَصْرٌvictory وَتَمكِينٌand establishment in power وفَتْحٌand conquest مُبِينْmanifest
نَصْرٌ وَتَمكِينٌ وفَتْحٌ مُبِينْ
Three greeted you at forty:
Forty brought you three blessings
Victory, established power, and a manifest conquest.
Victory, empowerment and clear conquest
أَنتَyou أميرُcommander of المُؤمِنينَthe faithful الذِيwhose
أَنتَ أميرُ المُؤمِنينَ الذِي
دَوْلَتُهُhis reign يُمْنٌgood fortune عَلَىupon المُؤْمِنينْthe faithful
دَوْلَتُهُ يُمْنٌ عَلَى المُؤْمِنينْ
You are the Commander of the Faithful, whose
You are the Commander of the Faithful
reign brings good fortune to the faithful.
Whose rule brings grace to the faithful
لَمْdid not يَبْقَremain فيconcerning أمْرِكَyour cause مِنْany مِرْيَةdoubt
لَمْ يَبْقَ في أمْرِكَ مِنْ مِرْيَة
مَحَاerased ظَلامَthe darkness of الشِّركِpolytheism نورُthe light of اليَقينْcertainty
مَحَا ظَلامَ الشِّركِ نورُ اليَقينْ
No doubt remains concerning your cause;
No doubt remains in your command
The light of certainty erased the darkness of polytheism.
The light of certainty erased the darkness of idolatry
يَحيَىYahya بنُson of عبدِservant of الواحِدِthe One المُرْتَضَىthe chosen one
يَحيَى بنُ عبدِ الواحِدِ المُرْتَضَى
ابْنson of أبيAbu (father of) حَفْصٍHafs لِدُنياfor this world وَدِينْand faith
ابْن أبي حَفْصٍ لِدُنيا وَدِينْ
Yahya, son of Abd al-Wahid, the chosen one,
Yahya son of Abd al-Wahid al-Murtada
son of Abu Hafs, for this world and faith.
Son of Abu Hafs in worldly and religious matters
فَإِنْfor if يَكُنْhe is خَيْرَthe best of مُلُوكِkings of الوَرَىmankind
فَإِنْ يَكُنْ خَيْرَ مُلُوكِ الوَرَى
فَإنَّthen indeed هَذاthis العامَyear أسْنَىthe most splendid of السِّنِينْyears
فَإنَّ هَذا العامَ أسْنَى السِّنِينْ
For if he is the best of mankind's kings,
If he is the best king of all people
then this year is the most splendid of years.
Then this year is the happiest of years
