أنُوحُI lament حَماماًlike a dove كلَّماwhenever ذُكِرَis mentioned الشَّرقُthe East
أنُوحُ حَماماً كلَّما ذُكِرَ الشَّرقُ
وَأَبكِيand I weep غَمَاماًlike a cloud كُلَّمَاwhenever لَمَعَflashes البَرقُthe lightning
وَأَبكِي غَمَاماً كُلَّمَا لَمَعَ البَرقُ
I lament like a dove whenever the East is mentioned.
I moan like a dove whenever the East is mentioned
And I weep like a cloud whenever lightning flashes.
And weep like clouds whenever lightning flashes
وَيَغْبِطُنِيand envies me فِيin سَكْبِpouring out أدْمُعِيmy tears الحَياthe rain
وَيَغْبِطُنِي فِي سَكْبِ أدْمُعِي الحَيا
وَتَحْسِدُنِيand envies me فيin نَدْبِlamenting أربُعِيَmy dwelling places الورقُthe gray doves
وَتَحْسِدُنِي في نَدْبِ أربُعِيَ الورقُ
And the rain envies me for pouring out my tears.
The living envy me when I pour out my tears
And the gray doves envy me for lamenting my dwelling places.
And the leaves envy me when I lament out loud
