إِلامَHow long فِيin حَلٍّloosening وَفِيand in رَبْطِbinding
إِلامَ فِي حَلٍّ وَفِي رَبْطِ
تَخْبِطُyou blunder جَهْلاًin ignorance أَيَّمَاsuch utter خَبْطِblundering
تَخْبِطُ جَهْلاً أَيَّمَا خَبْطِ
How long, in loosening and binding,
Why in solution and in knot
will you blunder in ignorance, blundering so wildly?
Do you flounder in ignorance, lost?
دَعِleave الوَرَىhumankind وَارْجُand hope in إِلَهَthe God of الوَرَىhumankind
دَعِ الوَرَى وَارْجُ إِلَهَ الوَرَى
فَإِنَّهُfor indeed He ذُوpossessor of القَبْضِwithholding وَالبَسْطِand bestowing
فَإِنَّهُ ذُو القَبْضِ وَالبَسْطِ
Leave humankind, and hope in the God of humankind,
Leave this world, turn to its Maker
For His are withholding and bestowing.
For He holds and extends all.
لَيْسَthere is no لِمَاfor what يُعْطِيهِHe gives it مِنْany (emphatic) مانِعٍwithholder
لَيْسَ لِمَا يُعْطِيهِ مِنْ مانِعٍ
وَلاand no لِمَاfor what يَمْنَعُHe withholds مِنْany (emphatic) مُعْطِgiver
وَلا لِمَا يَمْنَعُ مِنْ مُعْطِ
None can withhold what He gives,
None can stop what He grants
And none can give what He withholds.
Nor give what He prevents.
