يتقاتلون على جناها التافهِ
Fie on a world whose children never cease
Alas! The people of this world have always
Fighting one another over its paltry fruit.
Fought over its worthless pleasures.

فجميعهُم من سافةٍ ومسافِهِ
In their delusion, they have made fools of themselves for its sake;
They went astray, misguided by them,
So all of them are fools or trade foolish insults.
And so all were lost and misguided.

إنif لمnot يشافَهhe is addressed to his face بالقبيحwith abuse يُشافهhe addresses others to their faces
إن لم يشافَه بالقبيح يُشافه
Each is madly eager for its fleeting goods;
Each craved its vanities,
If he is not insulted to his face, he insults others.
Willing to dishonor himself to obtain them.

And God, in His revelation, has indeed condemned it;
And God, in His Revelation, has condemned it -
So read a Book that is not ambiguous.
Read a Book free of ambiguities.

Away with it—a dwelling where decay has wreaked havoc,
It protects us from the futile abode of ruination,
Settling upon the obscure and the eminent alike.
Where the idle and senseless dwell.

And adopt the noblest, most exalted adornment:
The best and noblest adornment for you
One whose teeth show in a smile is not like one who rudely rebuffs.
Is not laughter but a dignified composure.
