The enemies are powerless to secure their escape.

How could they, when your sword spills their lifeblood?

There is no doubt of glorious victory for a cause

whose counsels draw their good fortune from its banners.

You have been entrusted with tidings of conquests: bring them forth,

so that the days may inscribe them on their pages.

You faced the east wind, O soul, at the beginning

of these tidings, and at their close turned your back on the eastern breeze.

No wish of long life greets al-Murtada, support of guidance

and doom of foes—for his life means their death.

His full due of loyal service in aiding him has been paid

by a band in whose charges victory charges anew.

If the spears have put forth leaves with the dew of their palms,

then behold the heads among their fruits.
