لمَّا بَكَتْ مِنْ غَيْرِ دَمْعٍ جَرَى

لمَّا بَكَتْ مِنْ غَيْرِ دَمْعٍ جَرَى

أَعَارَها أدْمُعَهُ المُزْنُ

أَعَارَها أدْمُعَهُ المُزْنُ

When she wept without a tear flowing,

When she wept without tears flowing

The raincloud lent her its tears.

Her teardrops lent her their sorrow

فَكُلَّما اهْتَزَّ جَنَاحٌ لَهَا

فَكُلَّما اهْتَزَّ جَنَاحٌ لَهَا

نَظَّمَ مَا يَنْثُرهُ الغُصْنُ

نَظَّمَ مَا يَنْثُرهُ الغُصْنُ

And whenever a wing of hers fluttered,

So whenever a wing quivered for her

It strung together what the branch scattered.

It strung all the blossoms the boughs let go
