للَّهِto God (expressing admiration) سُوسانٌa lily تَرَاكَبَoverlapped نَوْرُهُits blossoms
للَّهِ سُوسانٌ تَرَاكَبَ نَوْرُهُ
فَأَتَىand so it came بِماwith what أعْيَاproved too difficult علَىfor الحُسْبَانِreckoning
فَأَتَى بِما أعْيَا علَى الحُسْبَانِ
How wondrous the lily, its blossoms layered one upon another!
It brought forth what defied all reckoning.
يَحْكِيresembles ثُرَياa chandelier أُسْرِجَتْwere lit كَاسَاتُهاits cups
يَحْكِي ثُرَيا أُسْرِجَتْ كَاسَاتُها
فيin جَمْعِهِits joining وَرِقاًsilver إِلَىto عِقْيانِpure gold
في جَمْعِهِ وَرِقاً إِلَى عِقْيانِ
It resembles a chandelier whose cups are lit,
In its joining of silver to pure gold.
لاdo not تَعْجَبواmarvel (you all) لِمُؤَلَّقٍat a radiant form مِنهُfrom it بَداappeared
لا تَعْجَبوا لِمُؤَلَّقٍ مِنهُ بَدا
كَسَوالِفٍlike necks رُكِّبْنَthey were fitted فيin جُثْمانِa body
كَسَوالِفٍ رُكِّبْنَ في جُثْمانِ
Do not marvel at the radiant form appearing from it,
Like necks fitted into a single body.
سَعِدَتْwas blessed لِمَوْلاناwith our lord البَسيطَةُthe earth فاقتَدَىand so emulated
سَعِدَتْ لِمَوْلانا البَسيطَةُ فاقتَدَى
فيهاupon it النَّباتُthe plants بِإِلفةِin the fellowship of الحَيَوانِanimals
فيها النَّباتُ بِإِلفةِ الحَيَوانِ
The earth was blessed with our lord, and so
The plants upon it emulated the fellowship of animals.
