قَابلْتُ نُعْماكَ بالسجودِ

قَابلْتُ نُعْماكَ بالسجودِ

للّهِ مِنْ عَطْفَةٍ وجُودِ

للّهِ مِنْ عَطْفَةٍ وجُودِ

I answered your bounty with prostration

I met Your blessings with prostration

to God, for your kindness and generosity.

To Allah out of kindness and generosity

ولم أجِدْ لِلْحَياةِ عُدْماً

ولم أجِدْ لِلْحَياةِ عُدْماً

وفي وجودِ الرّضى وجودِي

وفي وجودِ الرّضى وجودِي

Nor did I find life lost,

And I did not find any deficiency in life

for in the presence of your favor lies my existence.

In the existence of contentment lies my existence

قَد وَصّل الأمْن والأمانيَّ

قَد وَصّل الأمْن والأمانيَّ

بعد المُجَافَاة والصُّدودِ

بعد المُجَافَاة والصُّدودِ

It has united safety and hopes

You have connected safety and aspirations

after estrangement and rejection.

After estrangement and rejection

فإِن أكُنْ قَبلُ في ضُبوبٍ

فإِن أكُنْ قَبلُ في ضُبوبٍ

فَها أنا اليومَ في صُعودِ

فَها أنا اليومَ في صُعودِ

So if formerly I lay low,

If I was previously in difficulties

then here I am today ascending.

I awoke from my laziness with forgiveness

نَبهْتُ بِالعَفْو من خُمولي

نَبهْتُ بِالعَفْو من خُمولي

وكنتُ لِلْهَفْو في خُمودِ

وكنتُ لِلْهَفْو في خُمودِ

Through pardon I rose from my obscurity,

And I was immersed in slumber

and for my lapse I had lain dormant.

This is my emergence from hiding

هَذا ظُهوري من التّواري

هَذا ظُهوري من التّواري

وذا نُشوري مِن الهُمودِ

وذا نُشوري مِن الهُمودِ

This is my emergence from concealment,

And my resurrection from grief

and this my resurrection from lifelessness.

I have no fear of threats

لا وَحْشَةٌ للوعِيدِ عِنْدي

لا وَحْشَةٌ للوعِيدِ عِنْدي

أزاحَها الأنْسُ بالوُعودِ

أزاحَها الأنْسُ بالوُعودِ

I have no dread of threats;

Dispelled by intimacy with promises

the solace of promises has dispelled it.

O First in the Highest, Restorer

يا مُبْدِئاً في العُلَى مُعِيداً

يا مُبْدِئاً في العُلَى مُعِيداً

أيِّدْتَ بالمُبْدِئ المُعيدِ

أيِّدْتَ بالمُبْدِئ المُعيدِ

O you who begin and renew deeds of greatness,

You supported the First with the Restorer

may the Originator, the Restorer, strengthen you.

With what praise, however far-reaching

بِأيِّ حَمْدٍ وإنْ تَناهى

بِأيِّ حَمْدٍ وإنْ تَناهى

أُثْنِي على صُنْعِكَ الحَميدِ

أُثْنِي على صُنْعِكَ الحَميدِ

With what praise, however great,

Can I commend Your benevolent creation

can I extol your praiseworthy deed?

You intentionally overlooked sins

صَفَحْتَ عَمْداً عَن الخَطايا

صَفَحْتَ عَمْداً عَن الخَطايا

وتِلكَ من عادَةِ العَميدِ

وتِلكَ من عادَةِ العَميدِ

You deliberately pardoned the faults,

That being the habit of the Foremost

and that is a leader's custom.

And it is neither innovation nor remote

وغيرُ بِدْع ولا بَعيدِ

وغيرُ بِدْع ولا بَعيدِ

صَفْحُ المَوالِي عن العَبيدِ

صَفْحُ المَوالِي عن العَبيدِ

And it is neither unprecedented nor far-fetched

For the loyalty of masters to overlook slaves

for masters to pardon slaves.

Does despair diminish my hope

أيَنْقُصُ اليَأسُ مِنْ رَجائِي

أيَنْقُصُ اليَأسُ مِنْ رَجائِي

وذلكَ الفَضْلُ في مَزيدِ

وذلكَ الفَضْلُ في مَزيدِ

Can despair diminish my hope,

That favor being an increase

while that bounty keeps increasing?

What wretched person in the world

أيُّ امْرئٍ في الوَرى شَقِيٍّ

أيُّ امْرئٍ في الوَرى شَقِيٍّ

أَوَى إلى أمْرِكَ السّعيدِ

أَوَى إلى أمْرِكَ السّعيدِ

What wretched man among humankind

Has not found refuge in Your bliss

has sought refuge under your auspicious rule?

The joy of Eid does not reveal to me

ما غُرّةُ العِيد أَجْتَلِيها

ما غُرّةُ العِيد أَجْتَلِيها

يَوْمُ رضاك الأغَرُّ عِيدِي

يَوْمُ رضاك الأغَرُّ عِيدِي

It is not the feast's bright face that I behold;

The day of Your pleasure, my greatest Eid

the radiant day of your favor is my feast.
