لَوْif عَنَّarose لِيfor me عَوْنٌaid مِنَfrom الِمْقدَارِdestiny
لَوْ عَنَّ لِي عَوْنٌ مِنَ الِمْقدَارِ
لَهَجَرْتُI would forsake لِلدَّارِfor the abode الكَرِيمَةِthe noble دَارِيmy home
لَهَجَرْتُ لِلدَّارِ الكَرِيمَةِ دَارِي
If aid from destiny came my way,
If fate would grant me aid
I would forsake my home for the noble abode,
I'd leave my noble home behind
وَحَلَلْتُand I would settle أَطْيَبَthe finest طِينَةٍsoil مِنْfrom طِيبَةTayba
وَحَلَلْتُ أَطْيَبَ طِينَةٍ مِنْ طِيبَة
جَاراًas a neighbor لِمَنْto him who أَوْصَىenjoined بِحِفْظِto safeguard الجَارِthe neighbor
جَاراً لِمَنْ أَوْصَى بِحِفْظِ الجَارِ
And settle on the finest soil of Tayba,
And settle in the blessed lands of Taibah
As neighbor to him who enjoined care for one’s neighbor.
Neighboring he who urged protection for neighbors
وَرَكَعْتُand I would bow فِيin صَحْنٍa courtyard هُنالِكَthere طَاهِراًpurified
وَرَكَعْتُ فِي صَحْنٍ هُنالِكَ طَاهِراً
وَكَرَعْتُand I would drink فِيin مَعْنٍwater هُنالِكَthere جارِيflowing
وَكَرَعْتُ فِي مَعْنٍ هُنالِكَ جارِي
And bow in a courtyard there, purified,
And in that pure and sacred courtyard bow
And drink from the water flowing there,
And from that flowing spring drink deep
حَيْثُwhere اسْتَنَارَshone forth الحَقthe truth لِلأَبْصَارِfor the eyes
حَيْثُ اسْتَنَارَ الحَق لِلأَبْصَارِ
لمِّاwhen اسْتَثَارَroused حَفائِظَprotective zeal الأَنْصارِthe Ansar
لمِّا اسْتَثَارَ حَفائِظَ الأَنْصارِ
Where truth shone forth for eyes to see,
Where truth shone bright before all eyes
When it roused the protective zeal of the Ansar.
When Ansar's protectors were implored
لَكِنْbut عَلَيَّincumbent upon me لَهاto her أَدَاءُfulfillment of الفَرْضِthe duty مِنْthrough
لَكِنْ عَلَيَّ لَها أَدَاءُ الفَرْضِ مِنْ
طُولِlength of النِّزاعِyearning وَشِدَّةِand intensity of التّذْكارِremembrance
طُولِ النِّزاعِ وَشِدَّةِ التّذْكارِ
Yet I must fulfill my duty to her through
But obligation chains me still
Prolonged yearning and fervent remembrance.
Through strife and memories that will not fade
ياO زَائِرينَvisitors to القَبْرَthe tomb قَبْرَthe tomb of مُحَمَّدٍMuhammad
يا زَائِرينَ القَبْرَ قَبْرَ مُحَمَّدٍ
بُشْرَىglad tidings لَكُمْto you بِالسَّبْقِfor being first فِيamong الزُّوَّارِthe visitors
بُشْرَى لَكُمْ بِالسَّبْقِ فِي الزُّوَّارِ
O visitors to the tomb, the tomb of Muhammad,
O you who visit the tomb, the Prophet's tomb
Glad tidings to you for being foremost among the visitors!
Good tidings, for you lead all other visitors
أَوْضَعْتُمُyou hastened لِنَجاتِكُمُfor your salvation فَوَضَعْتُمand so you laid down
أَوْضَعْتُمُ لِنَجاتِكُمُ فَوَضَعْتُم
ماwhat آدَكمْweighed you down منْof فَادِحِheavy الأَوْزَارِburdens of sin
ما آدَكمْ منْ فَادِحِ الأَوْزَارِ
You hastened toward your salvation, and so laid down
You placed yourselves for salvation
The heavy burdens of sin that weighed you down.
And avoided grave and heavy sins
فُوزُواtriumph بِسَبْقِكُمُthrough your precedence وَفُوهُواand give voice بِالذِيto that which
فُوزُوا بِسَبْقِكُمُ وَفُوهُوا بِالذِي
حَمَّلْتُكُمْI charged you with شَوْقاًout of longing إِلَىfor المُخْتَارِthe Chosen One
حَمَّلْتُكُمْ شَوْقاً إِلَى المُخْتَارِ
Triumph through going first, and give voice to what
Rejoice in your advance and speak of one
I charged you with, out of longing for the Chosen One.
Who filled you with desire for the Chosen One
أَدُّواconvey السَّلامَthe greeting of peace سَلِمْتُمُmay you be safe وَبِرَدِّهِand through his reply
أَدُّوا السَّلامَ سَلِمْتُمُ وَبِرَدِّهِ
أَرْجُوI hope for الإجارَةَprotection مِنْfrom وُرُودِcoming to النَّارِthe Fire
أَرْجُو الإجارَةَ مِنْ وُرُودِ النَّارِ
Convey the greeting of peace—may you be safe! And through his reply
Give greetings, you are safe, and in their return
I hope for protection from reaching the Fire.
I hope to find deliverance from hell's fire
ثُمthen اشْفَعُواintercede لِيfor me فَالشَّفاعَةُfor intercession عِنْدَهُwith him
ثُم اشْفَعُوا لِي فَالشَّفاعَةُ عِنْدَهُ
فِيهَاthrough it أُبَوَّأُI am granted رُتبَةthe rank of الأَبْرَارِthe righteous
فِيهَا أُبَوَّأُ رُتبَة الأَبْرَارِ
Then intercede for me, for intercession with him
Then intercede for me, for intercession is
Will grant me the rank of the righteous.
The means by which I'll join the righteous
