The lady of the sash withholds her union
She adorns herself with the garment of union
From one whose wounds beat out a song of her.
Yet it wounds the one enamored with her
وَتَبْخَلُand she withholds مِنْfrom أزاهِرblossoms وَجْنَتَيْهاher two cheeks
بِشَمّthe smelling of الوَردthe roses أَوor لَثْمkissing الأقاحيthe daisies
And from the blossoms of her cheeks she withholds
She is stingy with the flowers of her gardens
A sniff of roses or a kiss of daisies.
With their fragrant roses and sweet blossoms
وَقَدand already مَلَكَتْhave taken possession of لَواحِظُهاher glances فُؤادِيmy heart
فَبَرْحُso the torment of هَوَايmy love لَيْسَis not إلَىtoward بَرَاحِdeparture
And her glances have already taken possession of my heart,
She has captured my heart with her glances
So the torment of my love will not depart.
So my passion finds no relief or respite
