ماwhat لهندٍwith Hind تكفكفُshe wipes away الدمعthe tears حزناًin sorrow
وشفاءُwhile the cure الحزينthe sorrowful one فيin راحَتَيْهاher two palms
What ails Hind, that she wipes away tears in sorrow,
What ails the tears of a doe as she weeps in sorrow,
While the cure for the sorrowful lies in her two palms?
When the troubled find solace in her eyes.
صَبَغَdyed الدرُّthe pearls خدَّهاher cheek قانياًcrimson إذwhen
نثرتهاscattered them الشؤونُthe tear ducts منfrom مقلتيهاher two eyes
Pearls dyed her cheek crimson when
The pearls have dyed her cheeks in sorrow,
Her tear ducts scattered them from her eyes.
As cares have shed them from her eyelids.

I was ceasing to yearn for the tents of Najd, but when
I would ask the tents of Najd for comfort, but when
The white camels turned toward them with the howdahs,
The staff inclined towards the cheek bones.
راحflowed دمعيmy tears كدمعِlike the tears of هندٍHind ولكنْbut
ساعةًfor a while ينهميit streams down علىupon وجنتيهاher two cheeks
My tears flowed like Hind's tears, yet
My tears flowed like those of a doe,
For a while they streamed down upon her cheeks.
Yet they dry in an hour on my cheeks.
