أيُّهاO you المعتزيclaiming descent لرهطfrom the clan of قريشQuraysh
أيُّها المعتزي لرهط قريش
وهوwhile he is أدنىnearer للذمِّto blame عمَّاًa paternal uncle وخالاand a maternal uncle
وهو أدنى للذمِّ عمَّاً وخالا
O you who claim descent from the clan of Quraysh,
Oh supporter of the Quraysh tribe
though through his paternal and maternal kin he is more deserving of blame.
And yet lower in blame, uncle and maternal uncle
حاشFar be it للهfrom God أنthat تكونshould be قريشٌQuraysh
حاش لله أن تكون قريشٌ
تلدُgives birth to الساقطينthe base والأرذالاand the vile
تلدُ الساقطين والأرذالا
God forbid that Quraysh should
God forbid that the Quraysh
give birth to the base and the vile.
Give birth to the fallen and the lowly
كنتَyou would have been واللهby God ذاone with قدومٍan arrival عليناto us
كنتَ والله ذا قدومٍ علينا
لوif جعلناwe made أُيورناour cocks أرسالاmessengers
لو جعلنا أُيورنا أرسالا
By God, you would have come to us
By God you imposed yourself upon us
had we made our cocks messengers.
