يا بأبي من هواه أقسم لي
ألاَّthat … not ينيgrow weary القلبthe heart منهbecause of him فيin شغلِpreoccupation
ألاَّ يني القلب منه في شغلِ
O, may my father be ransom for him whose love has sworn to me
By the one whose love made me swear
That the heart would never tire of being absorbed in him.
That my heart would know no other preoccupation,
هزَّتwas swayed بريحby the breeze of الشبابyouth قامتهhis figure
هزَّت بريح الشباب قامته
وأُدميتand were bloodied وجنتاهhis two cheeks بالقبلby kisses
وأُدميت وجنتاه بالقبل
His figure was swayed by the breeze of youth,
The wind of youth shook his stature,
And his cheeks were bloodied by kisses.
And his cheeks were reddened by kisses.
فانقدَّso split apart قدُّthe form of القضيبِthe branch منfrom دَهَشٍastonishment
فانقدَّ قدُّ القضيبِ من دَهَشٍ
واحمرَّand reddened خدُّthe cheek of الشقيقِthe anemone منfrom خجلshame
واحمرَّ خدُّ الشقيقِ من خجل
So the branch's form split apart in astonishment,
So he straightened, amazed,
And the anemone's cheek reddened with shame.
And the apple of his cheek blushed in shyness.
