If you have become enamored, O graceful one,

If you are obsessed, O brother of beauty

of blue in the body's garments,

With a blueness in the garments of the body

فالبَس فؤادي وُقِيْتَ لوعَتَهُ

فالبَس فؤادي وُقِيْتَ لوعَتَهُ

فإنَّه أزرقٌ منَ الكمد

فإنَّه أزرقٌ منَ الكمد

then wear my heart—may you be spared its anguish—

Then wear my heart and you will be protected from its agony

for it is blue from grief.

For it is bluer than indigo
