تُزْهى بلونٍ للخدود أَنيق
And an evening donned a robe of red anemones,
And one evening she wore the gown of her sister
glorying in a hue lovely on cheeks.
Adorned with a color for the cheeks so chic
أبقتْleft بهاin it الشمسُthe sun المنيرةُradiant مثلماjust as

أبقى الحياءُ بوجنةِ المعشوقِ
The radiant sun left in it a hue like that
The shining sun kept it, just as
bashfulness left on the beloved's cheek.
Modesty kept the cheek of the beloved

If I could, I would drink it out of love for it,
If I could I would drink it, enamored with her
and for its sake forsake cups of pure wine.
And refrain from cups of wine
