And a graceful youth went round with cups at midmorning,

Then hurried them round, with morning already bright.

And the garden showed us its anemones,

And its ambergris-scented myrtle had breathed out fragrance.

We said, “And where are the daisies?” The garden said to us:

“I placed them in the mouth of the one who served the cup.”

So the wine-pourer kept denying what

It had said; but when he smiled, he was exposed.
