تقسَّمتني أقاصي الأرضِ إذ بَعُدوا

تقسَّمتني أقاصي الأرضِ إذ بَعُدوا

وأنجزوا لحُداةِ العِيسِ ما وَعدُوا

وأنجزوا لحُداةِ العِيسِ ما وَعدُوا

The far reaches of the earth divided me when they went far away,

The farthest corners of earth have torn me asunder, when they were far away,

And they fulfilled what they had promised the drivers of the pale camels.

And kept the promise to the Christs' killers as they vowed they would.

فباللوى حيثُ زَمُّوا عيسَهُمْ جسدي

فباللوى حيثُ زَمُّوا عيسَهُمْ جسدي

وبالحمى حيثُ حَلوا القلبُ والكبد

وبالحمى حيثُ حَلوا القلبُ والكبد

So my body lies at al-Liwā, where they haltered their pale camels,

With yearning where they nailed Jesus' body hangs my body,

And my heart and liver lie at al-Ḥimā, where they settled.

And with love where my heart and liver dwelt, fever burns.
