O star that outshone the stars in splendor,
O star that outshone the stars with delight
And the blossoms in fragrance, and the morning in radiance.
And flowers with blooming and the dawn with sunrise

Yesterday, wishes brought us together with you,

On a day when you added evening wine to the morning draught.
A day when you added twilight to the brilliance of morn

I vied with my companions, an excuse holding me back,
I contended with my brothers, excusing myself
For pure wine, sweet and limpid, beyond my reach.
While the sweet limpid had for me a cordial draught

So enjoy the return of that intimacy which
Which departed, leaving the heart yearning.
Departed, leaving my heart filled with longing
