قُلSay لِلتيto her who نُظِمَwere strung الفَريدُthe precious pearls بِجيدِهاaround her neck
قُل لِلتي نُظِمَ الفَريدُ بِجيدِها
مِنfrom فَيضِthe flood دَمعيmy tears مِنكِbecause of you فَوقَabove تَراقِcollarbones
مِن فَيضِ دَمعي مِنكِ فَوقَ تَراقِ
Say to her whose neck was strung with pearls,
Say to her for whom the unique was composed with her neck,
From the flood of my tears for you, above the collarbones:
From the overflow of my tears upon you from above the profusion.
هانَتwere cheapened دُموعُthe tears العَينِof the eye أَنin that نُقِلَتwere transferred إلىto
هانَت دُموعُ العَينِ أَن نُقِلَت إلى
تِلكَthose السَواكِبُthe cascading drops مِنfrom غُروبِtear-streams مَآقِeye corners
تِلكَ السَواكِبُ مِن غُروبِ مَآقِ
The eye’s tears were cheapened when they were transferred to
The tears of the eyes became base when they were carried over
Those cascading pearls from the tear-streams of the eyes’ corners.
To those planets from the setting place of affliction.
أَتَرىDo you think مُخَصّرَهاher slender waist أُعيرَwas lent سِوارَهاher bracelet
أَتَرى مُخَصّرَها أُعيرَ سِوارَها
والجيدَand the neck لؤلؤَthe pearls ثَغرِهاof her mouth البرّاقِgleaming
والجيدَ لؤلؤَ ثَغرِها البرّاقِ
Do you think her slender waist was lent her bracelet,
Do you see her with necklace shortened, borrowed its bracelets,
And her neck the pearls of her gleaming mouth?
And the neck a shining pearl of its eloquent mouth?
فتطوَّقتْso she encircled her neck مِنْfrom ثغرهاher mouth بقلادةٍwith a necklace
فتطوَّقتْ مِنْ ثغرها بقلادةٍ
وتوشَّحَتْand she girded herself مِنْfrom حَلْيِهاher jewelry بِنطاقِwith a belt
وتوشَّحَتْ مِنْ حَلْيِها بِنطاقِ
So she wore a necklace fashioned from her mouth,
So she adorned from her mouth with a necklace,
And girded herself with a belt of her jewelry.
And wrapped around from her jewelry with a sash.
