In Ain Madi there are piercing eyes,
Eyes of a past with eyes of passing time
Doing the work of keen-edged swords;
Doers did the act of the passing swords

والتفاتُ الغزال لمّا غَزالي

صائِلاً صولَةَ الأسود المواضي
And the gazelle’s turning glance, when my gazelle
And the turning of the gazelle when my gazelle turned
Charges with the onslaught of fierce lions;
Pouncing the pouncing of the passing lions

ازدهاءَ الأغصانِ بينَ الرياضِ
And figures that exult when they cleave the heart,
And live coals that shine when the heart is kindled
As boughs exult amid the gardens.
Disdain of the branches among the gardens
