قَصَدتُكُمُ رجالَ اللَهِ أسعى

قَصَدتُكُمُ رجالَ اللَهِ أسعى

فقد هَتَفَت بجودِكمُ الحَمامُ

فقد هَتَفَت بجودِكمُ الحَمامُ

I came to you, men of God, hastening,

I seek you, O men of God, hastening,

For the doves have sung of your generosity.

For the doves have cried out at your generosity,

ولَم أقصِد ذُرا فَضلٍ سواكُم

ولَم أقصِد ذُرا فَضلٍ سواكُم

ولو نَشِبَت بِضَبعيَّ الحمامُ

ولو نَشِبَت بِضَبعيَّ الحمامُ

Nor have I sought heights of bounty but yours,

And I seek no crumbs of bounty other than you,

Even if death should cling to my upper arms.

Even if the doves peck at my ribs.
