ولنا لهَيبَةِ نورهِ إطراقُ
How beautiful is the House of God when bare!
O beauty of God's house though bare it be
And we bow our heads in awe of its light.
Our eyes still dazzle at its radiancy

ضَمَّت عليهِ سوادَها الأحداقُ
So they clothed it in black, while hearts wish that
So clothe it sombre to appease our hearts
The pupils might draw their blackness over it.
That pine to press on it their blackity
