وتُسعِفُهُ غُرُّ القوافي لأنهُ

مشوقٌ إلى تلكَ المرابِعِ شيِّقُ

His rhymes are fuel for rousing fires,

For rhymes and meters are his heart's desires.

ويوحى لَهُ من كلِّ قلبٍ لُبابُهُ

ومن كل نظمٍ في المدائح رَيّقُ

All poems' secrets to him they confide,

And meanings from every verse provide.

ويُصبحُ رحبَ الصدرِ منه موسعاً

لأنهُ من فَرطِ الصّبابة ضيِّقُ

Through him each ode with splendor sings,

Though from youth he's felt impatience' stings.
