ياO جاهلاًignorant of نورthe light of الصحاحal-Ṣiḥāḥ ومُعرِضاًand turning away
يا جاهلاً نور الصحاح ومُعرِضاً
عنfrom دُرَّةٍa pearl فيin لُجّةِthe depths of القاموسal-Qāmūs
عن دُرَّةٍ في لُجّةِ القاموس
O you who know not al-Ṣiḥāḥ’s light and turn away
O you, ignorant of the light of al-Ṣiḥāḥ and turning away
from a pearl in al-Qāmūs’s ocean-depths:
from a pearl in the depths of al-Qāmūs,
فيهin it صحاحُflawless pieces الجوهَرِof precious stone الشفافِtranslucent مثلُlike
فيه صحاحُ الجوهَرِ الشفافِ مثلُ
الكوكبِthe star الدرّيbrilliant والقابوسِand the handsome, fair-complexioned man
الكوكبِ الدرّي والقابوسِ
within it lies al-Jawharī’s healing Ṣiḥāḥ, like
within it are flawless, translucent gems, like
the pearl-bright star and fair-faced Qābūs.
