وقالوا إذا ما أتيتَ لسروا

وقالوا إذا ما أتيتَ لسروا

لَ فاحذَر حَرّاً شديداً

لَ فاحذَر حَرّاً شديداً

And they said: If ever you come to Sarwāl,

They said, when you come to Sirwa

then beware intense heat.

Be wary of intense heat

وإياكَ والماءَ فاملأ به الأو

وإياكَ والماءَ فاملأ به الأو

اوي واعزِم على أن تزيدا

اوي واعزِم على أن تزيدا

And take care over water: fill the [water vessels] with it,

And beware of the water, so fill your waterskins

and resolve to take more.

And be determined to take more

فإنَّ مفازَتهُ صعبةٌ

فإنَّ مفازَتهُ صعبةٌ

بشدّتها كم أشابَت وليدا

بشدّتها كم أشابَت وليدا

For its desert is difficult to cross;

For its expanses are difficult

through its harshness, how many a child has it turned grey!

In their harshness, how much they have wearied many a lad

وما علموا أن فَضلَ الإِلا

وما علموا أن فَضلَ الإِلا

ه ليس يزالُ بسيطاً مديداً

ه ليس يزالُ بسيطاً مديداً

But they did not know that God's bounty

Yet they did not know that the favor of God

never ceases to be vast and enduring.

Remains far-reaching and unending

بُغيثُ الخلائقَ إن عطشوا

بُغيثُ الخلائقَ إن عطشوا

بغَيث غزيرٍ يَعُمُّ العبيدا

بغَيث غزيرٍ يَعُمُّ العبيدا

He brings relief to creatures if they thirst,

The rain of all creation when they thirst

with abundant rain that reaches all His servants.

With abundant rain that encompasses all slaves

وكم من غديرٍ يُغادرُ ما

وكم من غديرٍ يُغادرُ ما

يُروّي ركاباً ويكفي جنودا

يُروّي ركاباً ويكفي جنودا

And how many a pool it leaves behind, with water

And how many streams are there that pass by

that quenches mounts and suffices for armies!

Quenching riders and sufficing armies

فسبحانُه من جوادٍ كريم

فسبحانُه من جوادٍ كريم

يعُمُّ الخلائقَ فضلاً وجودا

يعُمُّ الخلائقَ فضلاً وجودا

So glory be to Him, the bountiful and generous One,

So glory be to Him, the Generous one

who embraces all creatures with bounty and generosity.

Whose favor encompasses all creatures, kindness and grace
